my experience with fetch was rather limited, but there should be no reason you are being dropped. the number of slots isn't full. have you tried other FTP programs like Smart FTP ? etc.. ?

yeah, I tried CuteFTP too, this is the info recieved:

Connection attempt #1:
Looking up audio-uploads.archive.org...
Connecting to audio-uploads.archive.org (209.237.235.10) Port 80...
Connection established.

but it doesn't quite connect all the way, I can't see the file structure in the server window.

you shouldn't see any file structure. when you get in, you should just see the top level 'audio-uploads.archive.org' ... the 'blank space' is your partition of the upload server, and that is wher you create a new folder and put show files in there. try that out.... if you aren't even allowed to do that, let me know, but it sounds like you are loged in fully into the FTp
